Went to one of our favorite restaurants last nite. Tiny little place that is typically busy and despite snowy weather all afternoon there was still a wait and people standing around to gladly do so.
It isn't hard to understand why. It isn't just the food, which is phenomenal, and I'm not being dramatic... it is creative plates where liking the individual ingredients isn't going to be a necessity for you to like the dish... the smells will get ya before the food does, good stuff.
But the gem of the place is the people. Waiters not excluded. It's the chatty close quarters, the knowing of those around you b/c your eating elbow to elbow w/ them and treasuring the moment that this sweet atmosphere affords b/c you know life outside these doors isn't quite as judgement free.
Did some work in the kitchen this week myself. My mom recently shared a family recipe with all the cousins on her side and this was my first time making it solo. My braiding leaves a little to be desired but the smell this fills your house with is just divine! These were gifts for the friend that watched RB while we were gone this weekend so didn't taste them - but the dough was good which surely means so goes the bread.
