A Great Forgiving

adam and eve... don't go anywhere hearing those names thinking it isn't relevant.

i read this post today and she included this verse from the message...
forgive as quickly and completely as the Master forgave you, colossians 3:14 (the message)

how quickly is that?

the LORD reigns, he is robed in majesty; the LORD is robed in majesty and is armed with strength.  the world is firmly established; it cannot be moved.  your throne was established long ago; you are from all eternity. psalm 93:1

established defined: to set up; found, bring about, generate | to place or settle in a secure position or condition; to install | to make firm/secure | to introduce and put into force

in establishing the beauty of the earth - he made man, adam and eve, and gave them everything including time with himself, the Establisher.  such a humble love and when they threw it all away - seeking something greater, doing the one thing he asked them not to... in an instant, God showed his true colors... his established nature... and his sovereign love - - -  to the real enemy he declared...

So the LORD God said to the serpent, " Because you have done this, cursed are you above all the livestock and all the wild animals!  You will crawl on your belly and you will eat dust all the days of your life.  And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers;  he will crush your head, and you will strike his heel." Genesis 3:14-15

at the very moment of betrayal - which for God meant who fully knows what exactly - but a definite loss of intimacy with adam and eve, watching them now struggle, knowing the sin they set in motion for all humankind, and right in the midst of catastrophe given momentum - he displays an instant forgiveness and reveals a plan to redeem, to send his only Son to mark the miraculous moment where the pendulum forever swings his way - he declared the upcoming victory even knowing what would unfold between now and then and thereafter - and yet in that moment he fully forgave, not just them, but all - his love is vast...  consequences now reeling but not without his compassion in the smallest detail - before driving them out of the garden he covered their new found shame with garments. So big beyond imagining and so practically real all at once. Establisher of the universe, lover of my soul.

And that "crushing" predicted in Genesis 3 came to pass... buying for us the righteousness of Christ.  God's throne now fully accessible for all who seek refuge from our own sin - who is like God? there is no one.

If you make the Most High your dwelling - even the LORD, who is my refuge - then no harm will befall you, no disaster will come near your tent.  For he will command angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways; they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.  You will tread upon the lion and the cobra; you will trample the great lion and the serpent.

"Because he loves me," says the LORD, "I will rescue him;  I will protect him, for he acknowledges my  name.  He will call upon me, and i will answer him;  I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him.  With long life will I satisfy him and show him my salvation." Psalm 91:9-16

"To me this is like the days of Noah, when I swore that the waters of Noah would never again cover the earth.  So now I have sworn not to be angry with you, never to rebuke you again.  Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed," says the LORD, who has compassion on you. Isaiah 54:8-10
